How is civil society in Latin America leading its governments to set an example for global refugee rights?

Civil society groups, including Asylum Access, are helping the Latin American region set an important example at a time when the world’s nations are negotiating two UN Global Compacts this year — one on Refugees and one on Migration. The recent Regional Consultation in Brasilia set two historic precedents: an official role for civil society organizations in the proceedings, and a statement by the region’s governments on best practices for refugee rights and protections.
